I’m not sure I’ve ever sat down at my desk to work and thought to myself, “Oh, I’m doing a good job.”
Maybe that is sad and something I need to work on, but I find that I am not singular in this train of thought as a creative. Especially a creative with a day job.
Instead, I often think of a lot of other things. I think about the massive mental to do list I have constantly running in my head. I think of the deadlines I have when writing I’m almost certainly behind on. I think about the royalties not rolling in. I think of how I need to go to the grocery store even though I have no idea what I want to make for dinner all week.
But, we’re still pushing forward.
We are still writing or trying to write. That’s something. And thus, today’s post is a little inspirational one for you.
And also for me.
So… Just a little reminder.
If you don’t write every day—
You are doing a good job.
If you aren’t published—
You are doing a good job.
If you are published but feel like you are getting nowhere—
You are doing a good job.
If you are telling yourself that everyone else out there is doing so much better than you are—
You are doing a good job.
If you only write lists these days—
You are doing a good job.
If you cry, out of frustration due to your ambition and beautiful goals—
You are doing a good job.
It’s ok.
You are doing amazing.
