A few months ago during December, I had the 12 Days of Write-mas. It was 12 days leading up to Christmas where I talked about behind the scenes book stuff including a Substack only giveaway, the Call You Mine cookies I made and remade for a second year, and an entire book reveal— cover and everything.
Remember that?
If you don’t, that’s ok! I haven’t been bringing it up much because well.
If you been sticking around, you know why and it goes way beyond just a simple writing rut. It went deep into how I wanted to put myself forth into the future as a writer and author.
Until last week when it dawned on me that I wanted to put myself forth into the future as a writer and an author so… I kind of just have to keep doing that. With the books I have right now. With the books I had planned. With the books I now dream of writing in and out of genre.
Whatever may happens.
Isn’t that exciting?
But I’m here to talk about the book I mentioned months ago—the one since has been very up in the air, barely even a “maybe”? Well… it’s not just happening. It’s happening happening.
12 Dates Till Christmas is a go.
This past week, as I found myself in a much happier writing place (thank you, brain), I dove back into revisions, not letting chapter three or four stump me as it had been in the past whenever I attempted to give it a go just to feel that amazing feeling of finishing something.
And let me tell you. It’s not only been fruitful. It’s been fun.
I’ve been playing around with the format, giving myself permission to enjoy the process again and be excited most of all about finishing something and being able to move on without this further feeling of failure hanging over my head.
Having that permission to explore and write through this process has also meant experimenting with things like incorporating a newsletter my main character writes, text messages sprinkled throughout (even when the characters are only a room away but they just can’t handle facing each other and their many many feelings). Quick, snappy chapters have also made it all feel fresh and exciting.
And the best part? 12 Dates Till Christmas is still going to be on time.
Because it’s finished.
For now.
I still need to either man up and face my editor with this mess or find a way to go through 60-ish thousand words myself.
(I need to man up and reach back out to my wonderful editor).
Yes, this little holiday romance is headed your way this November 7th. So prepare yourself. There are cozy vibes, messy characters, and all the seasonal heart-sparkles you’ve come to expect from a fun romance.
Are you excited?
I’ll be sharing more details soon— maybe even a little excerpt if I’m feeling generous (or as per current, chaotic).
Stay tuned. And again, thank you for sticking around while this story and writing found its way back to me. I can't wait to share it with you.
And I can’t wait to share all the other stories that are just waiting in the queue.
