When I first started writing, I wanted to publish traditionally. It seemed the way to do things. You wrote a book. You get a literary agent. You get a publisher. And bam! You have your book in your hand and suddenly you become a bestseller with your book plastered over the shelves wherever they can fit for readers to pick up at your local Barnes and Noble, Books a Million etc.
(Easy, right?)
I dreamed of seeing my books on the shelves one day for someone to stumble across just like I have so many authors.
When I decided to self publish, this was a dream I had to let go of. Though not impossible, the likelihood of a bookstore stocking your book is small as a self publishing author. It is also driven by sales. So, if your book is doing amazing on BN.com, great! You’re more likely to find your book on the shelves. But, most of us indies are simply powering through on places like Amazon or where we sell our own books on our website. Seeing our books on the shelves where traditionally published books are feels a bit like a pipe dream.
But, the other day that changed when for months, I have been reaching out to dozens of indie bookstores, politely asking if they would please stock my books in some way, shape, form, or fashion.
Finally, one did.
Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville, IL now has Call You Mine availible on the shelves.
Doesn’t she look pretty among the romances?
If you are in Naperville ever, please stop in and show Call You Mine some love. Pick up a copy or recommend it to someone else so that they pick it up. How well the book does really depends on us as readers.
And now, I’m hoping for the best.
Thank you so much for all your support and confidence in me that makes these kinds of big moments possible.
Soon, maybe Bewitched By You will also make in on the shelves, just in time for fall.
Stay tuned.
Can’t make it to Anderson’s? You can still read a book!
Don’t miss your chance to read my contemporary romance books on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and in paperback!
This must be SUCH a cool feeling! Congratulations :)
