How to Ease into Autumn
Five ways to start getting into the fall spirit since fall is magic- Fact. Not opinion.
Fall in magic.
I will take no other opinions. In my mind, this is fact.
Fall is magic. Sure, there is a moment, normally around March where I sigh and daydream of hot summer days and the humidity that doesn’t so sound bad in a sea of endless snow storms and gray, cloudy days that wash over you until you feel a little gray yourself. But often, that is short lived once the stickiness of sweat is a constant state on the back of your neck. Fall on the other hand, is a grand reveal of color and nostalgia. If you catch it just right? It’s also cozy—which is the ideal state, in my opinion.
It may only be August, but September is on the horizon and I’m ready to bask in brisk breezes, cozy sweatshirts during football games, and yes, all the pumpkin spice just to get in the spirit.
There are so many ways to get into the magical spirit of fall. Do any of these as a reader, writer, fall lover spark your fancy?
Create a Fall themed TBR
Here! I’ll start you off with reading Bewitched by You about a modern witch who is having a quarter life crisis during her final year at university when, right at the same time, the campus golden boy (with big golden retriever energy) admits he’s been basically in love with her ever since he accidentally made fun of her with his friends during first year orientation.
Romance! Cuteness! Apple pie! Halloween! And a touch of every day magic.
And if you are still savoring just a little more of your summer reading list…
Bake Something Delicious
Perferably something apple, pumpkin, or spiced baked. Perfect for a sweet snack late in the evening while devouring your current read.
Light a few Candles
I’m very jealous of the homes that have the tapered candles on their mantle or the floating ones around the house that is perfectly decorated for the fall season. But, if you have the time and energy, you can create a perfectly fall themed space to get into the spirit.
Or, light a cinnamon vanilla candle or pumpkin pecan waffles to make you space small as wonderful as the season. That works too.
Coziness in Key
Time to get out the throw blankets and switch your closet slowly over to sweaters (even if we all know there is always that point of August and September where we get a sort of “false” fall which can be a bit disheartening—and hot when wearing your adorable ghost-themed sweatshirt).
Watch a Fall Themed Film
I’ve been desperately wanting to watch Practical Magic. But here are another few movies you can watch too that makes me feel like fall is officially here.
Dead Poets Society
Hocus Pocus
Matilda
When Harry Met Sally (I may not have watched this one yet which feels like a terrible thing to admit, but maybe this year!)
Remember the Titans
It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
Add any others you can think of in the comments!
How are you getting in the fall spirit as the air gets cooler, the magic thrums in the breeze, and the leaves start to turn?
Stars, just talking about it makes me happy.
