Welcome to Writing Diaries !

This is a behind-the-scenes peek into my real-time writing process for paid subscribers. These entries will be honest snippets capturing the ups, the downs, and everything in between. It’s less polished, more personal — like a creative journal I’m letting you read over my shoulder.

Thanks for supporting my work and being part of the process.

But today, here is an extended sneak peak of what to expect:

I keep wondering when I’ll return to that place I was in at the very beginning of my writing journey when I was first dreaming up this kind of story.

This kind of book.

Maybe I’ll get there again. 100% excited for the moment I sit down to write that I can’t even wait that long, writing in the margins of other work and notebooks pieces of the entire book puzzle that usually never make it off that page, yet I never cared. I was writing. I was hearing the characters. I had a story to tell.

Maybe it’ll happen when I start to feel a little more confident. When there's an actual, tangible book taking shape in front of me.

Summer always feels like a fresh start, which I think helps. It’s full of possibility. It feels like I should be doing everything: chasing the sun, sweating through 90° days, and also making sure my characters are out there too. They need to be living big, messy, adventurous (not necessarily happy) lives.

Right now, I’m a little over 10,000 words into my current work-in-progress.

Yes, the one I’ve been hinting at.

The one I really want to talk about.

And somehow, that number makes it feel real. 10,000 words isn’t a lot… but it also is. It’s somewhere between 20 and 40 pages.

(I just calculated that. Honestly thought it would be more.)

Anyway —

It’s going to be a book. A story. Whether or not it grows into something beyond that you’ll see on the shelves is still uncertain, and frankly, that terrifies me more than it should. I keep asking myself the question.

Is it worth it? Is it worth the time and energy to write the book I’ve been dreaming about — in various forms — for nearly a decade?

I guess the real question is actually, if not now, when?
