Writing in November: My own personal brand of optimism.
I might have a slight obsession with book covers.
I have a book cover for my holiday novella that I am currently writing this month.
“What?” I can already hear you saying. “But, Kendra, you haven’t even finished writing this book!”
This is what I call my own personal brand of optimism, readers.
Plus, I found the most beautiful pre-made1 that I couldn’t just let pass me by. So, I leapt. And there is just something so magical about finding a book cover or creating a book cover for something you are writing.
You start to see the story come to life. It all starts to feel a little more real.
While I can't reveal this cover just yet (I’m saving that big moment for when the manuscript is absolutely, positively finished), I’m beyond thrilled to see my story taking shape and coming to life in this new way. It’s such an incredible feeling to know that the vision I’ve had for this book is starting to feel real, and I can’t wait for you all to see it when the time comes.
As for the writing itself, I’ve been juggling a new day job lately, so it's been a bit of a balancing act.
But I’m committed to making time for my writing. I've been trying to keep my promises to myself and schedule more dedicated writing sessions throughout the week, which… sort of is working? And also is sort of not working when the sun feels like it goes down at 4 pm and all I want to do is curl up in a blanket on the couch.
When I do sit down to write, however, the words are starting to flow again, slowly but surely, and I’m hoping the momentum continues as I dive deeper into the “past half way point” stages of the book I think. Hopefully.
How about you? I’d love to hear how your writing (or other creative projects) are going this month.

Pre-made Book Cover: A book cover that an author does not create from scratch and can purchase and customize with their book's title and author name only usually. Pre-mades are also often cheaper because they are not being commissioned, only purchased “as is.”
Dedicated writing time helps me a lot too! Some seasons, I can get away with just popping in and out of the book when I have a moment, but this year, client work has been too unpredictable and crazy, and having dedicated time has really helped me stick to those goals.
Also remembering that I've done this before and so I can do it again. But I can really relate to what you're saying and it's so much harder to force yourself to write when it feels like you're up against a wall every time (this is me currently about 70% of the time as I make some shifts and focus on line edits) so I'm happy to hear the writing is coming back to you with more ease!
